  • September 20, 2011:
    Hal Lyson, director of Fire Investigations, has been reappointed representative of FCA for and principle member to NFPA 921 "Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigation." Mr. Lyson is also the representative of FCA for and principle member to NFPA 1033 "Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators." FCA and Mr. Lyson have been providing training seminars around the country on these authoritative documents and the latest fire investigation issues.
  • June 1, 2011:
    A joint research paper - with contributions from FCA and Berkeley Engineering and Research (BEAR) - describing the failure mechanisms of exploding portable plastic gasoline containers has been peer reviewed and accepted for publication by the Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention.

    The article, entitled "Failure Analysis and Prevention of Fires and Explosions with Plastic Gasoline Containers," can be obtained online here.

    The paper will be printed in the August edition of the Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention. FCA's work on this project was led by Joseph Zicherman Ph.D., SFPE and by Glen Stevick, Ph.D, ME-PE a fellow co-authors at BEAR.
